A stunning historic venue in Gloucester City Centre
With most Medieval monasteries being destroyed during the 15th century, Blackfriars Priory survived due to being the private residence of the Mayor of Gloucester at the time. The site boasts unrivalled features, such as the 65ft scissor-braced ceiling in the iconic North Range, which displays original 13th century oak beams that were gifted by King Henry III.
The site also houses the Medieval Scriptorium, which is believed to be the oldest standing purpose-built library in Northern Europe and is of international significance. In the South West of England, it is among the most historically important monuments of the area.
